This project marks the culmination of my longest-running creative endeavor, born from a summer immersed in the rugged, awe-inspiring landscapes of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. The months I spent here allowed me to reconnect with my creative core, reawaken my passion, and redefine my purpose. This time was more than just an exploration of mountains, rivers, and valleys; it became a journey of self-discovery, of finding fulfillment in the quiet beauty of nature.
Every photograph represents a piece of my heart left behind, woven into the fabric of the places that captivated me. Each image tells the story of a moment lived, a breath drawn, a memory crafted in the wild heart of Yellowstone.
These images were captured on 35mm film, a medium as raw and unrefined as the land itself. Film has an honesty that mirrors the ruggedness of the ecosystem; there is no digital gloss or touch-up, only the unfiltered landscapes as I saw them. The unedited quality of these photos preserves each moment's authenticity - the morning mist, the late summer sun, the rough textures of earth and rock - translating this wild, untamed world directly onto each frame. Throughout this journey, I experimented with different types of film, carefully selecting each based on the feeling I felt best fit the subject being photographed. The choice of film helped me connect even more closely with each scene, enhancing the story each frame has to tell.
The completion of this project draws to a close a profoundly formative chapter in my life, leaving a bittersweet ache in its wake. To part from these landscapes, now bound within these pages, stirs a sadness knowing that this time - this journey - is behind me. I will carry these memories with me always, captured here in these images. Moments that will forever remind me of the wild, unbridled beauty that helped me find my way back to myself.
Here is the story of that summer, framed and captured, to share the landscape that revived my spirit and rekindled my love for art.
